LOVELY FEET THAT RUN TO BRING GOOD NEWS

Such an honor! As I celebrate the one-year anniversary of my blogging adventure, I receive a nomination for the One Lovely Blog Award.

LOVELY FEET THAT BRING GOOD NEWS

The prophet, Isaiah, saw a vision of a herald running on the distant hills, a messenger announcing the return of the Jews to Jerusalem. Their long and painful captivity in Babylon had come to an end. The temple in the Holy City would, once again, rise in all its magnificence. Surely, peace would spread throughout the land at the fulfillment of this joyful proclamation.

The feet of a herald bearing good news appeared beautiful. Now, you might think that the feet of a runner coming with haste would be all covered with dust and sort of gross, but to the eyes of someone who had suffered oppression and witnessed the ravages of war, these feet represented a long-awaited restoration. Quite a welcome and delightful sight!

LOVELY FEET THAT RUN WITH HASTE

An even higher beauty exists in this vision. The prophet stood amidst the ruins of the desolated city. He couldn’t see the feet of the distant messenger. The feet serve as a symbol of his coming. The action of his feet, running with haste, attracts the attention. The rapid motion of these feet imparted loveliness to them because of the excitement in their joyful message.

The glad tidings spoken of in Isaiah’s vision announce a more glorious release than that of Judah from Babylonian captivity. The coming of John the Baptist, the apostles of Christ and all other ministers in later ages who have run an obstructed path with swift feet to proclaim the joyful message of the Gospel have the appearance of lovely feet.

IN CELEBRATION OF LOVELY FEET

With so many good blogs out there, you could have knocked me over with a feather when I discovered I had been nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award. I am truly humbled and honored to be recognized. Thank you, Lisa, for your friendly gesture. Please know that your good news has come as a very lovely message to me.

As I celebrate my delight in God’s greatness, beauty and goodness, I feel such gratitude to serve as a herald of that message to the world around me. God’s work for me continues as his gift to me. May God bless all whose feet run to proclaim the Good News, with strength and stamina to continue and, not to linger or lose time, but to go with haste.

How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, who announces salvation, and says to Zion, Your God reigns! Isaiah 52:7
